Taxes and duties are a very important source of State budget revenue and provide major finance for the Government’s socio-economic development programmes. In Viet Nam, tax revenue is starting to decline while expenditure continues to rise, threatening budget sustainability.
The General Department of Customs collected nearly VND160 trillion
(US$7.27 billion) in taxes and duties in the first nine months of this
year, up 13.8 per cent year-on-year.
